“A monkey came in my room”

In this lesson , we will learn two things.

  1. Hindi equivalent of the verb “to come”
  2. Hindi postposition meaning “in”

Hindi equivalent of the verb “to come” is “आना (aanaa)”

मैं आया/आयी | (main aaya/aayee) = I came.

पीटर आया | (peter aaya) = Peter came.

मोनिका आयी | (monikaa aayee) = Monika came.

बन्दर आया | (bandar aaya) = Monkey came

All these sentences are in Past tense in Hindi.

The Hindi postposition “-में”  means “in”

मुम्बई में (mumbai me) = In Mumbai

चेन्नई में (channai me) = In Chennai

मेरे रूम में (mere room me) = In my room

or

मेरे कमरे में (mere kamare me) = In my room.

Now we will combine above two concepts.

मेरे रूम में बन्दर आया | (mere room me bandar aaya) = Monkey came in my room.

मेरे रूम में पीटर आया | (mere room me peter aayaa) = Peter came in my room.

मेरे रूम में मोनिका आयी | (mere room me monikaa aayee) = Monika came in my room.

पीटर के रूम में मोनिका आयी | (peter ke room me monikaa aayee) = Monika came in Peter’s room.
