In Hindi “to like” translates to “पसंद होना”.
“पसंद होना” is a state verb. A state verb is a verb which describes a state but not an action. These verbs are not used in continuous tenses.
Let us learn this verb with example.
“Peter likes Monika” means Peter is in state in which he likes Monika.
“Peter is liking Monika” is grammatically incorrect.
If you observe,the verb “पसंद होना ” is made of two words
1) पसंद = to like
2) होना = state of being
पीटर को मोनिका पसंद है | (peter ko monikaa pasand hai) = Peter likes Monika.
मुझे करीना पसंद है | (muze kareena pasand hai) = I like Kareena
The pronoun to be used in case of verb “to like” is object pronoun. [See: Object pronouns in Hindi ]
