Describing others in Hindi

In this Hindi lesson

You will learn possessive form of third person Hindi pronouns.

Previously you learned Hindi pronouns like मैं (main), तुम (tum),यह (yah), वह (vah)…………..

You also learned the possessive forms of pronouns “मैं” and “तुम”

The possessive forms of “मैं ” are “मेरा / मेरी /मेरे “

Similarly the possessive forms of “तुम ” are “तुम्हारा/तुम्हारी/तुम्हारे”

In this lesson, we shall see the possessive form of यह (yah) and वह (vah)

We will try to make sentences like

His Car is Ford

or

Her name is Monica.

Just to remind you that “यह” is used to describe objects or persons near you while “वह” is used to describe objects away from you.

Talking about a person who is near you.

For example:

You and John are talking about your third friend who is sitting together with you.

इसका फोन

iska phone

His/Her phone
इसकी गाड़ी

iskee gaadi

His/Her Car
इसका भाई

iskaa bhaai

His Brother
इसकी बहन

iskee bahan

His/Her Sister
इसका फोन samsung हैं |

iskaa phone samsung hain

His/Her phone is samsung.

इसकी गाड़ी Ford हैं |

iskee gaadi ford hain

His/Her car is Ford.

Talking about a person who is away from you.

For example

You and John are talking about who is not with you but somewhere else.

उसका फोन

ooska phone

His/Her phone
उसकी गाड़ी

ooskee gaadi

His/Her Car
उसका भाई

ooskaa bhaai

His Brother
उसकी बहन

ooskee bahan

His/Her Sister
उसका फोन samsung हैं |

ooskaa phone samsung hain

His/Her phone is samsung.

उसकी गाड़ी Ford हैं |

ooskee gaadi ford hain

His/Her car is Ford.

  1. Hello Haritha, We are using Oskee because Gaadi(car) is Feminine noun because it ends with -ee sound.

  2. I have a doubt
    aapka/aapki/aapke
    how should we chose what should come from among the above mentioned pronouns?
    is it according to the next word to the pronoun or the gender of the speaker?
    pls help me. I don’t understand.
