“Comparison” in Hindi

In this Hindi Lesson

We will learn how to compare things in Hindi using Hindi adjectives.

In the previous lessons, we saw different types of Hindi adjectives.

For example:

  • Adjectives on colors : मेरा पेन काला है | (meraa pen kaalaa hai) = My pen is black
  • Adjectives on quantities : मेरा पेन बड़ा है | (meraa pen badaa hai) = My pen is big
  • Adjectives on appearance : मेरा पेन सुन्दर है | (meraa pen sundar hai) = My pen is beautiful
  • Adjectives on numerals : यह मेरा पहला पेन है | (yah meraa pahalaa pen hai) = This is my first pen

Now, we will see how to use these adjectives to compare nouns in Hindi

In Hindi, we compare two nouns by adding  suffix  -से (se) to the noun we want to be compared with.

For example

पीटर मोनिका से बड़ा है | (peter monikaa se badaa hai) = Peter is bigger than Monika.

मोनिका पीटर से बड़ी है | (monikaa peter se badee hai) = Monika is bigger than Peter.
