In English there are prepositions, in Hindi we have postpositions. Prepositions are short words which stay just before the nouns.

above, on are the examples of prepositions in English.
In Hindi, these words are positioned after the noun and hence they are known as post-positions. The usage of hindi postpositions is very similar to prepositions in English.
The following table gives the list of all postpositions in Hindi with examples. However, readers are recommended to take the lessons on Hindi Postpositions from the Hindi Lessons section.

Postpositions take a prefix -के(ke) when they are used with the third person nouns (not all postpositions). In the above examples, the noun “TV” is a third person pronoun, hence postpositions are starting with -के(ke). While using with pronouns, postpostions do not take prefix -के(ke) with all of them. Following example will clear your doubts. In the table, posposition “ऊपर(upar)” is used as an example.
